How we built The GAiGE

We kept hitting the same wall with clients: plenty of AI in use, no way to tell if it was working. So we built the measurement layer we wished existed. Here's how, and why it works the way it does.

Every business we worked with had the same blind spot. They were using AI, sometimes a lot of it, and none of them could answer the simplest question about it: is this actually working? They could tell us how many licences they had bought. They could not tell us whether any of it had made the business better off.

We went looking for a tool that could close that gap, and didn't find one we would trust. So we built it. It is called The GAiGE.

The wrong ways to measure AI

The obvious approach is to count usage: logins, messages, prompts. We knew that was a trap, because usage says nothing about value (how to tell if your AI is actually working). The other obvious approach is to read each tool's own dashboard, but every vendor measures itself differently, and none of them measure whether your work actually improved. Stitch a dozen of those together and you still can't see the whole picture.

So we started from a different question. Not "how much is AI being used?" but "is it making people more effective, and is it worth what it costs?" Everything about how The GAiGE works follows from that.

How it actually works

The GAiGE measures two things most tools miss: what people actually experience, and what they actually do. It gathers the first through short in-browser pulses, micro-surveys that take about thirty seconds and ask the questions that reveal whether a tool is helping. It gathers the second through a light browser extension that picks up real usage in the background, across all the AI tools a team uses rather than one at a time.

It turns that into the things a business can act on: adoption, time saved, satisfaction, an ROI figure, and the wasted spend on seats nobody touches. One comparable report, independent of the vendors, refreshed continuously rather than once at the end of a pilot.

The principles underneath

Two ideas shaped every decision. The first is independence: because The GAiGE sits outside the tools it measures, it can give you a straight, comparable read that no single vendor can. The second is that we use it ourselves. AiGILE runs on AI, and The GAiGE is how we keep our own advice grounded in evidence: we measure, then we adjust, exactly as we ask our clients to.

That is also why it exists as its own product rather than a slide in a deck. Measurement that is real has to keep running, quietly, in the background, long after the excitement of a launch has faded.
